Abstract :
The setting of coal inventory targets at a single power plant and for all plants in a system is considered. A novel problem formulation that leads to practical solution methods is presented. Based on the analysis of an inventory cost/benefit tradeoff, this method can be implemented by solving constrained optimization problems. Examples derived from actual utility studies are presented
