Abstract :
The loop range extension (LRE) feature refers to electronic switching system (ESS) modifications required to implement concentrated range extension with gain, which involves the integration of switching and transmission technologies in the Central Office. This paper describes the interfaces between the LRE feature and Nos. 1/1A and 2/2B ESS´s; it provides a brief description of the ESS networks and details the hardware connections and software processes required for LRE functions. Also provided are network administration considerations required in support of the feature.
