Calculation of resonances of microwave resonator loaded with inhomogeneous dielectric layer

A procedure for calculating resonance frequencies of a rectangular cavity loaded with an inhomogeneous layer is given. Calculations are based on a previous modification of the theoretical approach which, to the authors´ knowledge, has not been verified numerically or experimentally. The numerical results presented illustrate both the effect of the dielectric inhomogeneity on the resonance frequencies, and the errors that are made if the correction to the original theory is not made.
