Abstract
This paper discusses a method based on the direct differentiation of the finite element matrices for shape optimisation of electromagnetic devices including eddy-currents. The sensitivity equation of the magnitude of the magnetic flux density is deduced in terms of a generic parameter p that can be either geometric or physical. The augmented Lagrange multiplier method is used in the optimization process. The result of an idealized problem is presented
