Abstract :
A three-dimensional finite-element analysis is employed to investigate, the losses of hydrogenerator stator end regions by using surface-impedance boundary conditions. The three-dimensional complexity of the end-winding geometry is fully taken into account by the model. The purpose of this work is also to evaluate the eddy-current paths allowing for slits in the stator teeth and their effectiveness in reducing stator core-end losses
