Abstract :
We propose a method to compensate for the n, k variation on the surface of a slider. This method provides the ability to determine more accurate local n and k values, thereby increasing accuracy and repeatability in the calculation of flying height. Implementing the method in a home built optical flying height tester, fly-height repeatability was greatly improved over that of a noncompensated case
