  • Abstract
    Results from high power, 180° bend tests in samples of G652 and G655 singlemode optical fibre show that some fibres can suffer catastrophic damage at optical powers as low as 0.5 W at bend diameters of 13 mm. The results, failure mechanisms and preliminary analysis are presented.
