Abstract :
The changes in the centre frequency of optical filters cascaded throughout a wavelength division multiplexed network can cause strong performance degradation. The impact of filter centre frequency tolerances is evaluated by considering a statistical approach and an analytical formulation for prediction of system performance is developed.
