Abstract :
A computationally economic online parameter estimation algorithm for the induction motor is described. The parameters are derived from only those signal components most relevant to the parameters being calculated, to achieve conciseness and good mathematical stability of the algorithm. Using spectral analysis, it is shown to be possible to design online test methods that resemble the standard offline, no-load and locked-rotor tests. Computer simulations, as well as experimental results from a 2 kW induction motor, demonstrate that the algorithm´s performance is satisfactory over a wide range of operating conditions
