Abstract

The Balcones 60 MJ pulsed power supply system is discussed. How the power supply was brought to a full operational state while being used to maintain a rigorous experimental EML shot schedule during the start-up period is discussed. Operational experience acquired as each generator was tested and brought into service, up to full energy and full current discharge, is described. Other topics include routing inspection and maintenance for keeping the power supply at a constant state of readiness, troubleshooting techniques and repair procedures, and safety precautions observed while testing and operating the power supply
