Abstract
Taking into consideration the effect of leakage flux from the medium, an analysis of the curling state in the demagnetizing field was employed to study head film magnetizattion processes during readout of magnetically recorded signals. The analysis yielded values for the magnetostatic, anisotropy and Zeeman energies, as well as the angle of inclination ¿o of the magnetic moment at the head tip surface and the region D over which the moment deviates from the easy axis direction. From these results the magnetization distribution was calculated. The Kerr effect was used to measure actual magnetization distributions, and good agreement was obtained between theory and experiment.
