Abstract :
A new approach for increasing the bandwidth of microstrip antennas by using the simplified real frequency technique is presented. The method is numerical, its most significant feature is that it does not require any form of equivalent circuit or analytical impedance functions for the antennas and generators, and the measured or calculated impedance data are processed directly. Furthermore, neither an a priori choice of a matching network topology nor an analytic form of the system transfer function is needed. A representative example shows the validity of the design procedure.
