Abstract :
Co/Cr and Co/Ag compositionally modulated films were prepared by evaporation, and the dependence of the film magnetic properties on layer thicknesses was investigated. The periodicity could be verified for wavelengths ¿ ≫ 14 Ã… for Co/Cr and ≫ 30 Ã… for Co/Ag. Changes in saturation magnetization with the Co layer thickness and ferromagnetic resonance spectra can be explained in terms of a model which includes an alloying effect in Co/Cr (which are mutually soluble) and aggregation of Co and Ag in Co/Ag (which are insoluble).
