Abstract
Methods for controlling the magnetic flux in open type ferrite orthogonal cores (FOCs) by raising, lowering, and inclining them in magnetic fluid, are discussed. It was found that when the open FOC came into contact with the magnetic fluid, increases in both the permeability and the maximum magnetic flux value resulted; that the magnetic flux could be controlled by setting the FOC at an angle to the fluid; and that by arranging the two exciter windings of the open FOC orthogonally and exciting both, the device may be used as a two-dimensional slope sensor.
