Abstract :
The magnetic shielding effect of amorphous magnetic metal ribbons arranged in a mesh of U-shaped elements is described. The shielding coefficient S was determined as a function of the U-shape ribbon element length L, the number of such elements, the external field strength, and the frequency of an applied ac field. The coefficient S may be controlled by adjusting the number of ribbon layers and other parameters, and provides an effective shield at low frequencies, where eddy current effects do not appear.
