Abstract :
The authors report the changes in properties of tetragonal Nd2Fe14B, the main phase present in Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets, as various elements (Co, Ni, Cu, V, Al, Cr, Mn) were substituted for Fe. Substitutions did not change the tetragonal crystal structure. Results of Curie temperature measurements could not be explained solely in terms of changes in Fe-Fe interatomic distances. Except for Co, all substitutions resulted in decreases in the magnetization at room temperature.
