  • Abstract
    To better understand vibration phenomena in transformers, analysis of magnetostriction in stressed materials was conducted using the finite element method. Starting with functionals for the total elastic and magnetic field energies, a one-dimensional approximating expression for the magnetostriction was derived, using experimental values for the magnetostriction-flux density curve in the unstressed state. Experiments verified the reasonableness of the expression obtained; further, analysis of the magnetostriction is possible for non-uniform stresses as well.
