Abstract
This paper deals with the analysis of static characteristics in a slotless-type permanent magnet (PM) machine with radially magnetized PM rotor. On the basis of a two-dimensional analytical field analysis, this paper predicts the magnetic field due to PMs and stator winding current, the back EMF and the electromagnetic torque characteristics. In particular, the magnetic vector potential transfer relations developed by Melcher (Melcher´s methodology) are used to calculate the field quantities. The results are validated extensively by com-parison with nonlinear finite-element method and experiment
