Abstract
The molar ratio of (Lu2 O3 /Lu2 O3 + Gd2 O3 ) and R1 parameter of the LPE melt for (BiLuGd)3 Fe5 O12 growth were varied to determine the region of pit-free thick film growth. The borderline between the presence and absence of pits is in the neighborhood of Gd2 O3 /Lu2 O3 = 1 in the melt. The magneto-optical properties of the 250 ¿m thick film were studied. 2408°/cm of the Faraday rotation (¿ = 1.153 ¿m) and 37.4 dB of extinction ratio were obtained. This result confirms that it is suitable for compact isolators.
