  • Abstract
The behavior of the magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant K1 of Fe-Al-Si single crystal was investigated for the cause of soft magnetism in this composition. Measurement of K1 variation with temperature for a sample annealed from 1200°C revealed that K1 does not change sign. Measurement of the change in saturation magnetism with temperature over the -200 to 800°C temperature range supported the view that the samples measured in this experiment were single-phase DO3. The results did not conflict with the steady state diagram analogy.
