Abstract
In this paper we consider the design of root-raised cosine filters for receivers in digital transmission systems with strong adjacent interferences. Linear programming techniques are applied to trade off intersymbol interference and stopband attenuation. Only the specification of the transmitter filter in the frequency domain is used. It is shown that linear programming techniques are easy to use and examples are provided to show that it is possible to meet highly demanding specifications with a reduced number of taps.
