Abstract
In a collaborative effort between computer scientists and applications researchers, we are constructing an integrated modeling system to model and control environmental pollution. The Geographic Environmental Modeling System (GENIS) was conceived to give advanced environmental modeling capability to a wide user community. System features include distributed computing over high-speed networks, geographically encoded object-oriented databases, extensible graphical user interfaces, and interactive analysis capabilities
