Abstract
The magnetic seed method was used in this study to evaluate the performance of a high-gradient magnetic (HGMS) filter and to investigate the effects of coagulant and pH on the accumulation of magnetic flocs in the filter. It was found that as the concentration of coagulant increased, the initial recovery increased. At a pH of 5.0, the magnetite and silicon dioxide were sufficiently combined that the initial recovery was 100 percent.
