Abstract :
A computer program, developed by the authors for use in numerical analysis of the recording characteristics of single pole heads, was employed to study the effects of the pole material squareness ratio S, a tapered pole shape and a second pole layer, on the reproduced voltage. Results for the dependence on the squareness, which corresponds approximately to the domain inclination angle, agreed with previous experimental results. It was found that both a tapered pole shape and a second layer of thickness at least 3 ¿m have the effect of raising the reproduced voltage.
