Abstract
A compound magnetic head was developed by combining the high frequency magnetic characteristics of ferrite and the high Bs characteristics of sendust. Various running surface shapes were experimented with to overcome the ``wobbling´´ in the read-out output frequency characteristics caused when the ferrite head tip section is within the track orbit. Placing the ferrite head tip section at the gap section edge or outside the track orbit displaced from the gap section were found to be effective measures to avoid these problems.
