Abstract :
The relation between forced magnetostriction in amorphous Gd-Fe films and film composition was studied. It was discovered that the forced magnetostriction previously considered to be small enough to ignore is actually too large to ignore. The forced magnetostriction exhibits a significant dependence on film composition suggesting that it is strongly related to the Fe moment in the film. It was also confirmed that Gd-Fe film forced magnetostriction is dependent on temperature.
