  • Abstract
    The relation between film growth, heat treatment conditions, optical heterogeneities, and grain boundaries was studied in Bi, Ga-substituted YIG films. Films formed in an Ar atmosphere and heat treated for 3 hours at 540°C in O2 was optically very homogeneous but slightly magnetically inhomogeneous. In spite of these magnetic inhomegeneities, the written bits were almost perfect circles and distortion was insignificant.
