Abstract :
Direct digital synthesisers (DDSs) can generate phase- or frequency-modulated signals, with high linearity. The spurs that appear because of the sampling of the modulating signal are analysed. Analytical expressions are given to predict their level. Empirical results are provided to show the accuracy of the theoretical expressions
