Abstract :
The authors describe a process for fabrication of magnetic recording media through formation of an alumite layer by anodic oxidation, and electrodeposition of iron in pores of the cells in the alumite. By varying the voltage and duration of the anodic oxidation, the cell diameter and porosity of the alumite layer can be regulated. Hard disk media were fabricated by this process, which can be applied to flexible disk production also.
