Abstract :
The characteristics of Bi-substituted iron garnet film and amorphous Tb-Fe-Co film, grown individually and in composite, were investigated. The Kerr rotation of the composite film is explained by the glass and film surface reflection and interference effect in garnet film. In the recorded area, the fine domain structure and the shape were improved in the composite film. The authors conclude that by varying the composition of the garnet film, it is possible to eliminate the reverse-direction domains of the garnet film visible behind the composite film recorded domains and further to improve their shape.
