Abstract :
Computer simulations of flaw detection by a differential transformer type magnetic sensor are described. To enable treatment of the relative motion between sensor and test piece, a boundary element method was adopted in place of the usual finite element method of analysis. The results of an analysis assuming a sensor running over an iron bar with a buried flaw are presented.
