Abstract
This article briefly introduces the history and development of control theory education in China, and describes the role of control theory curriculum for training students in advanced study and research. This curriculum is popular among engineering students, as it gives students important concepts, such as feedback principles, stability, dynamic performances, synthesis, and integration of systems. The article discusses the necessity and reality of setting up control theory curriculum for students in engineering disciplines and presents various programs for undergraduate students and graduate students. Four key aspects for improving control theory education are emphasized: classroom teaching, textbook authoring, directing lab work, and exercise tutoring
