Abstract
Mangetic detection is known as a useful method to detect the position of a buried pipe. The detection, however, becomes erroneous except in the case of a single pipe-line. We have considered a case of two pipe-lines running parallel each other to gain a theoretical understanding of the error cause, and compared the results analyzed to those experimentally measured. Both results are in good agreement. The error is due to an earth current leaking from a considered line toward another line nearby.
