Abstract :
When an entire system can be built on the periphery of a flat-panel display, a nation´s ability to manufacture those displays becomes vital to the survival of its industries. The author discusses the state of the market for this technology and emphasises the US´s position in relation to the rest of the world, in particular, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Europe. The problems facing the flat panel display industry in the US are discussed
