Abstract
A torque sensor with a broad dynamic range employing amorphous ribbons in contact with a sensor head is described. A uniaxial anisotropy was induced in the FeCoSiB amorphous ribbons by magnetic field annealing. Ribbons with various Kuo /¿s used. As expected, a larger Kuo /¿s resulted in a broader dynamic range, but with lowered sensitivity. In stationary torque detection experiments, a sensitivity about 10 times that possible using strain gauges was achieved at a dynamic range of 2000 ¿ST.
