China´s IC industry is evolving rapidly, driven by seemingly insatiable demand. There is concern, however, whether China can overcome other countries´ reluctance to do business and build a significant semiconductor industry. In addition, China´s semiconductor ambitions are thwarted by other issues, such as its evolving attitudes to joint ventures, and the international controls on access to the most advanced technology. These concerns also affect where large chip companies choose to make their manufacturing investments
