Abstract :
An algorithm is presented for the minimal state-space realization of an n-dimensional (n-D) system whose transfer function can be expanded to a continued fraction. The state-space representation is directly derived from a circuit block diagram realization of the n-D system, and it is given in closed form. The method is based on the design of the primitive signal flow graph of the system whose transfer function can be expanded to a continued fraction of type IB. The application of this algorithm is very simple (a few additions and multiplications are required). The method can be applied to transfer functions that can be expanded to continued fraction of other types
