Abstract :
The eigenadmittance or eigenreactance approach has often been used to simplify the treatment of symmetrical microwave networks. The author shows that it may also be used to simplify the evaluation of symmetrical waveguide obstacles by the finite element method. An accurate value for the susceptance B of a rectangular obstacle is obtained with only 40 fourth-order elements
