Abstract :
The authors have explored the feasibility of 10 Gbit/s lightwave transmission using direct modulation on a DFB laser and pin-HEMT receiver for moderate-link-length applications. Also included in the experimental setup is an 8:1 multiplexer-demultiplexer unit to fully simulate the field operation environment. Experimental results with and without a fibre amplifier booster module are described in the Letter
