Abstract :
For the first time the time-varying performance of a WDM system has been measured. Two 5 Gbit/s IM-DD signals were transmitted through 15 cascaded EDFA repeaters with 100 km dispersion-shifted fibre span, and the system performance was evaluated as a function of the channel separation. The results show that the stability of the WDM system performance strongly depends on the channel separation
