Abstract
The uncertainties relating to the forced outage rates (FOR) of power system generating units are important in studies such as long-term generation expansion planning. These uncertainties might be better understood by experts in the field. Expert evaluations can be modeled with fuzzy set theory, and the fuzzy-FOR so calculated reflects the conditions of operation and maintenance of the units more realistically
