Abstract
Five different video ghost cancelling reference signals have been proposed to improve television reception in North America. The results of computer simulations and laboratory tests which were completed to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of each video ghost cancelling reference signal are presented. These tests were done in collaboration with the proponents and were part of the evaluation process of the Advanced Television Systems Committee´s (ATSCs) Specialist Group on Ghost Cancelling (T3-S5). The results demonstrated that a ghost cancellation system can significantly improve the television service offered to viewers
