Abstract :
This paper is concerned with the consequences of ever-increasing pressures in the education of engineers and scientists to specialise. It is argued that the loss of idealism in politics is in danger of leading to an education policy aiming at vocational effectiveness rather than the human needs of the student. It is suggested that this will be counter-productive industrially as well as socially
