Abstract :
An efficient system for rejection of NTSC interference in digital spectrum-compatible HDTV (DSC-HDTV) receivers is described. DSC-HDTV receivers operating in a terrestrial simulcast situation need operational immunity against NTSC cochannel interference. Reduced channel spacing and an NTSC signal 12-15 dB stronger than the DSC-HDTV signal cause serious interference into a DSC-HDTV receiver by an NTSC cochannel. Interference rejection can be provided by a receiver comb filter with nulls near all three NTSC carriers. The correlative action caused by the comb filter was complemented by digital precoding
