Abstract :
An investigation into the interaction between electrical trees and reinforcing materials in composite insulation is described. The trees were grown in point plane specimens in clear polyester resin with a layer of the reinforcement of interest cast midway between electrodes. The reinforcing materials are chosen to demonstrate the effects of strength of adhesion with surrounding resin, thermal resistance and mechanical characteristics on tree development.
