Abstract :
A coaxial laser module based on a small CD laser head is described. The module has a diameter of 5.6 mm and a length of 14 mm. By modifying the standard CD laser head the electrical performance could be upgraded to a 5-GHz bandwidth. The coupling optic is designed for low feedback and includes an optical isolator. Coupling efficiencies up to 80% have been achieved
