  • Abstract
The attractions of do-it-yourself electricity generation have never been greater. Government grants are helping to make home-based energy production an increasingly attractive proposition, but the technology options can be bewildering. This article gives an overview of the available technologies, including electricity production using solar photovoltaic roofs, heating using a heat pump, solar water heating, automated wood boilers, and micro-CHP (combined heat and power) units.
