This article looks at the technological and economical challenges in changing to a hydrogen based fuel economy. It discusses the use of hydrogen as fuel in vehicles, and in fuel cells to generate electricity. The main obstacle to a hydrogen economy is the production technology. Hydrogen generation by electrolysis using nuclear power, wind power and other renewable resources is examined.
