Abstract
Syntheses of shaped dual-reflector systems under the assumptions of physical optics usually involve some iterative optimisation procedure whereby a penalty function is minimised. It is shown that, when an analytical gradient procedure is compared with other approaches, it is very efficient. To illustrate its efficiency the procedure generates a dual-offset shaped-reflector system for the EUTELSAT II European-coverage pattern in 30 min on modern personal microcomputer
