  • Abstract
    This paper deals with a wind tunnel investigation of the power imparted by wind to a circular cylinder vibrating in a sinusoidal mode shape. The vibrating system has a low damping ratio and the results have shown a hysteresis phenomenon in both oscillation amplitude and power input. The sheets of the hysteresis has been interpreted with respect to the different flow patterns in the wake of the oscillating cylinder. The results of the specific power as a function of the vibration amplitude are in agreement with those of the central group of previous tests
